TEG/Grundon organic waste plant proposals latest news
29 April 2010
Following the meeting on 19 April to discuss the proposals to develop the TEG in-vessel composting and anaerobic digestion facilities at Grundon’s site, I am pleased to be able to tell you that the planning application has been deferred for further consultation with the local community. I have received the following communication from TEG:
"Following the feedback from the meeting on Monday, the existing application has been formally withdrawn and the documents have been returned to us by West Berkshire. Following further consultation, we are proposing to resubmit around 7th June (six weeks from the date of the public meeting). In the interim, we will take on board the comments made at the meeting and address them via a Q & A document. Many of the issues raised are already covered in the original application, but may be addressed in the technical language (perhaps unsurprisingly) used by specialist consultants. We are also reviewing the available plans and drawings to make them easier to understand and are sourcing third party comments on existing TEG/UTS facilities.
We are very happy to arrange site visits as follows:
· to the existing Grundon operations at Beenham, as many people seemed to be unaware of what goes on there at the moment
· to the TEG, In-Vessel Composting (IVC) Facility at Exeter
· to a UTS Anaerobic Digestion Facility at Munich (via Stansted).
None of these facilities operate on Saturdays, so the visits would have to be on weekdays only. We can make all transport arrangements, but would welcome your assistance as discussed to confirm approximately the numbers of people who would be interested in attending one, two or three of these visits. We can accommodate about 10 people at a time and could probably do Beenham and Exeter in a single day."
I will send out further information as soon as I have it, in particular the Question and Answer document. In the meantime please let me know as soon as possible by e-mail if you are interested in going on any of the site visits (specifying which).
I am sending this message to as many people as I can. Please pass the messages on to friends and neighbours. If they want to be included in the distribution of further information they only have to let me have their e-mail address.
