Buses

Travel towards either Reading or Newbury

Community Connect Bus Service

The Thatcham Connect on-demand bus service that serves local villages has been improved . You can now pre-book a seat from many pick-up points in the area to Theale, Thatcham Broadway, Thatcham Station or West Berkshire Community Hospital, apart from within Thatcham and along the A4 Bath Road (due to conflict with other bus services). •    Service operates Monday to Friday, 0900 to 1445. Book up to 7 days in advance.
•    Bus passes are accepted after 0930.
•    You can download an App to book online. Full details on www.westberks.gov.uk/communityconnect

Shopper's bus to Sainbury's Calcot

There is a handy shopper’s bus on Monday and Wednesday to Sainsbury's Calcot. It leaves Thatcham at 1110 and goes via Brimpton, Aldermaston, Beenham, Bradfield. The return bus leaves at 1340.  Full details on the website.

Other buses

In addition a Carebus service (see below) runs from Beenham village to Newbury on Fridays. The service will only run if there are enough passengers and places need to be booked the day before. Call 0118 930 4837 on Thursday before 6pm to book a seat.

Buses also run every half hour during weekdays along the A4 towards Reading and Newbury.

ReadiBus (travel towards Reading)

There is also a ReadiBus for people with restricted mobility who can't use ordinary public transport. It picks up from home and has wheelchair accessibility, for travel to Sainsbury’s Calcot, Reading town centre, Royal Berkshire Hospital or anywhere en route. Carebus Volunteer Group, Englefield
Carebus Volunteer group, based in Englefield, provides a voluntary transport service to help local individuals or organisations. They accept regular or occasional bookings and the rates are set to be affordable.

The Chapel Row Community Service Group
Chapel Row Community Services Group will help to organise transport for those unable to use public transport to and from the dentist, chiropodist and the optician etc., hospital visiting and essential shopping. More information can be found here

Trains
There are trains from Aldermaston and Theale Stations, to Newbury and Reading and with connections to London and many other places via Reading. There are also trains from Pangbourne to Oxford and Reading.
