Carebus Volunteer Group, Englefield
The Carebus Volunteer group, based in Englefield, provides a voluntary transport service with three vehicles to help local individuals or organisations. They accept regular or occasional bookings and the rates are set to be affordable.

The Escort Chairman has been especially adapted to transport a wheelchair-bound passenger - perhaps you would like to take a friend or relation out for the day?

The Community Bus has room for 10 passengers and is ideal for small groups - would your club like an evening out?

The Handybus is a bit bigger and has a tail lift, it is more accessible and some of the seats can be removed to make room for wheelchairs so it can be used by groups with disabled members. It is run by the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, which runs once a fortnight on a Thursday either to Thatcham or Newbury. This is a door-to-door service.

Can you help?
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver for any of these vehicles please contact the Carebus Volunteer group. They will train you how to use the vehicles and pay car mileage rates to their base in Englefield. Drivers need a standard driving license and a half-hour training session for the chairman and community bus. Handybus drivers need to be assessed after a longer training session.
You can help this worthwhile group as little or as much as you like.
